A serene meadow at the south end of Newman Lake has been part of a family’s land trust for decades. The challenge was presented to build a structure for the family that offered privacy, sat lite on the land, and opened up to views of the lake.

The resulting architecture - simple and functional. A weathering steel clad bar-volume, placed lightly on pilotes above the meadowscape. The house intends to remain quiet and flat, refraining from competing with Mount Spokane and the surrounding hills; and welcoming the vibrant meadow life to inhabit the adjacent marshland.
